What is Microblading 🤔?
Microblading is a semi permanent eyebrow procedure that is carried out by a qualified technician... that’s right QUALIFIED... do your research before choosing your technician! That’s my first tip... looking at their work online is always a good way of seeing whether you like the look of the brows they have done.
Below are some examples of what can happen when you don't go to a qualified and experienced technician - these horror stories might be funny to look at but not so funny when it's your face and your brows!
Beware of anyone using generic internet images (like below) to depict work that is clearly not their own. Make sure to read your technician's reviews too.
Your Trusted Technician
I'm Laura and I'm Level 4 qualified - if you're in Gloucestershire please feel free to take a look at my Facebook page @heavenlyholistics and also a list of other treatments I can offer 💁♀️. If you live elsewhere, do make sure your technician is well qualified and that you've seen examples of his or her work.
What's the Procedure?
The procedure is carried out using a special hand tool which houses sharp needles positioned in a way that resembles and operates very much like a blade.
The required pigment colour is deposited into the superficial dermis of the skin with a disposable microblade which allows the technician to create crisp hair strokes that resemble natural eyebrow hairs. Microblading differs from the conventional semi permanent tattooing by the very fact it is a manual procedure, the colour is deposited closer to the surface than when a machine is used, leaving very fine crisp hair strokes with no spilling under the skin.
I know you’re probably thinking 'TATTOOED EYEBROWS - NO WAY!' but hear me out... Microblading leaves brows looking very natural, not scary, and your technician will always discuss exactly what you would like your brows to be like and do their best to meet your expectations.
Your Excellent Brows
Your brows, once complete, will last one to three years, depending on lifestyle. After the initial treatment you will need to go back six weeks later for a touch up session once they’ve healed. This session is to tweak the brows where needed and leave you with greater definition and true colour to your new brows. Consultations are very important - you must have one to discuss your expectations and limitations; the technician needs to see your original brows and skin in order to make the perfect decision that’s right for the client. Medical history and consent forms will be filled in and a patch test will be done 24 hours before the procedure.
There are many different shapes when it comes to eyebrows and different shapes will suit different shape faces... again do some research but a good technician will always be able to guide you as to what can be achieved. It’s important to take note of how to prepare your skin weeks before the treatment and allow at least 1hr 30 mins for your first appointment. After your brows are done please adhere to all the after care rules and look after those brows! A follow up appointment will be made for you six weeks later.
People often ask me 'does it hurt'? The answer is... the pain is minimal. A topical lidocaine is used to numb the brows before the procedure and also during. Ladies, if you’ve been through child birth this is a breeze... guys, on the other hand, you may need gas and air... just kidding! It’s a slight scratching feeling on the skin - you'll wonder what you were worried about.
